Are Edo/Benin people very diabolical?

Postby BigBrother on Sat Oct 10, 2009 4:08 pm

Was discussing with a colleague of mine and mentioned in passing that there was this girl from Benin that I sort of liked. He screamed that I should not try it. He said Benin people are diabolical. He claimed to have lived there and all that. He said many of them had shrines in their houses and you go on streets and you find sacrifice everywhere. He said some try to distance themselves from it because of education but they can't go to their villages. He said when the husband of a woman dies, she is forced to wash the body of the husband and drink the water. He was specific about Benin and Ishan tribes. I was shocked when I heard all that. Is it true?

Though am not Benin not even Edo, but will u judge people by their culture, so if most houses in Benin has shrine, does it mean everybody there is diabolical, if u like the girl why dont you go for her, why listen to what people say, if u want to start listening to people's opinion you will never get anything done.

@Tayogirl
True. That was what I tried to reason with the friend. His opinion does not really affect whether I will or I won't but I was just amazed that people could generalize about a certain group of people and feel so certain - Wanted to know if I was the only one ignorant

Love is a thing of the mind. I can chose to love adolf hitler if I put my mind to it but juju is a strong thing, I won't be able to use that mind again.
