Making this decision - KPMG vs PWC

Postby BigBrother on Fri Jun 05, 2009 3:48 pm

Recently got an offer from pricewaterhousecoopers and now I got another offer from KPMG. I initially preferred KPMG to PWC but now I don't know what I want anymore. Does things like size of the company and salary matter when taking such a decision? KPMG seems to be smaller in size to PWC in Nigeria but I'm torn between the two companies. Someone should helpppppppppppp me!!!!!!!! Google has been helpful but I'm not sure in the context of Nigeria.

If you are after only money, then salary does matter. If this job is a temporary thing and is not actually a career making thing, money is the important thing.

If you are looking for substantive experience in addition to money, evaluate the quality of training that both companies will offer to you. Does PwC come in first?

PwC is bigger than KPMG and has a bigger client base - does this mean your job may be more secure (something to think about in this bad job market). Does one company offer the opportunity to travel, which may be an advantage to you?

How about the culture of the company? One may place more emphasis on having a balance of social and work life rather than just concentrating on work all the time.

Hope it works out!

Interesting points for reasoning :)
I think you've just given me reasons to stick with PwC although until I see KPMG's offer letter before I finally make up my mind. I just discussed with a KPMG staff and he was like he feels KPMG offers better. The challenges with PwC in the past one week has been thrilling. I might just stick with PwC

I delayed picking the KPMG offer letter until July cos they will give me a week to confirm my decision. Although I'm almost certain of sticking with PwC but I'm still building final opinions about the firm. Those I talked to at KPMG assured me of the beauty of working there although tasking - same thing at PwC.

Stuck with PwC. The offers were quite similar and the job functions too although KPMG had a bit more to offer in terms of on the job experience.
Work is taking a lot of my time. I know I can effectively manage my time - giving enough to work and enough to life but I have not gotten around doing that. How is it going with you?

Great to hear that PwC is working out. What job responsibilities do you have going on? Is it what you expected?

I have had an incredibly busy summer considering all things, but I took a week off and went on vacation. I went to Vermont (another state), which is so beautiful, green and clean and then I went upstate to the mountains and lakes. I can't believe summer is over, I am feeling the chill already :(

I had lost motivation to write and then I went on Facebook. I never had time for this before. Well, fb is not at all inspiring or entertaining. And I don't understand how people abbreviate words and mangle the language into something else. I think I will stick to reading :)
